41% of Ribston Hall’s A-levels were graded as A* or A; placing the 2022 cohort significantly above the national average of 35% and above Ribston Hall’s 2019 results, which represent the last ‘normal year’. Students achieved, on average, over a grade higher in each of their subjects than in previous years, delivering considerably more UCAS points to secure their universities of choice.

Head of Sixth Form, Mr Robert Goodwin, said “I am overjoyed these students have been justly rewarded for their incredible efforts over the last two years. Their academic success reflects the ambitious targets we set and the belief our students can ‘discover their potential’. Coupled with sound career advice, their superb A-level results have laid the foundations for success in their chosen next steps, whether that is further study at university, an apprenticeship or employment. We wish them the very best.”

Headteacher, Mrs Sarah Colombini, commented “Despite an unprecedented and difficult A-level journey, our students haven’t skipped a beat, handling switches to remote learning during their Sixth Form years with great resilience and positivity. We are so proud of them as they continued to demonstrate determination, dedication and passion in their studies. This, alongside the expert teaching they’ve received from our staff and the support from the wider Ribston community of parents and carers, is reflected in the best set of A level results that Ribston has ever seen.

“It’s a huge source of pride for us to see so many of our students secure highly prized places at Russell Group universities; compelling students to have high aspirations and a drive to succeed is something we’ve strived for since many of them joined us in Year 7 in 2015. They should be incredibly proud of themselves, and we look forward to seeing what they achieve in their next steps after Ribston Hall High School.”

Students are heading off to university to study courses as diverse as Agriculture, Ancient History and Archaeology, Civil Engineering, Dietetics, Geography, Law, Medicine, Music, Psychology and Wildlife Conservation.

Notable achievements from students:

• Kara Dionisio is heading to the University of Cambridge to study Medicine having achieved three A* grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths.
• Laiba Malik achieved one A* and two A grades, and will study Medicine at the University of Cardiff.
• Jessie Irvine achieved three A* grades in Biology, Chemistry, and Philosophy and Ethics, and will continue her studies at the University of York, beginning a course in Biochemistry.
• Fellow scientist Maisie Godfrey is heading to the University of Southampton to study Biology having achieved two A* grades and one A grade.
• Evie de Gruyther achieved two A* and one A grade, securing her place to study Wildlife Conservation at Bath Spa University. Evie commented “It is hard to put into words how much Sixth Form at Ribston has meant to me. The friendships I have made will last a lifetime. I am so proud that my hard work has paid off. Thank you to all the teachers who never stopped believing in me and to Ribston for the best 7 years. I am so excited to go to university!”
• Isabel McClymont achieved two A* and one A, enabling her to take up her place at the University of Nottingham studying Politics.
• Harry McCairns earned an A*, An A and a B, securing his place to study International Development and Languages at the University of Portsmouth.
• Lucy Lord achieved two A* and one A, so she will embark on a Geography degree at the University of Exeter. She said “I am delighted and proud of my achievements and cannot wait to get started at uni.”
