QUIZ NIGHT –

Well, it was an entertaining evening and despite some ‘hiccups’, the competition was fierce (and incredibly funny at times).  Thank you so much to the 16 teams who took part and accepted the ‘challenges’ with enthusiasm!  The quiz took on a new format compared to previous years and we hope that all those who took part enjoyed themselves.  It was a close call in the end with only 5 points between the top 3 teams but congratulations must go to the ‘Crafty Ferrets’ who earned their ‘trophies’.  Well done should also go to the ‘Oxymorons’ under 18’s team who took away the chocolates.

Importantly, together we raised approximately £300 (after costs) for the school which is absolutely fabulous and a particular thank you must be said to the winning team who generously donated their ‘winnings’ back to the RHA.  We look forward to next years event with eager anticipation.

RHA LOGO COMPETITION – prize to be won

The RHA has for many years been without its own logo and we thought it would be a fabulous idea for a student to create one for us.  The chosen design will then be used in all the RHA notifications and on our section of the website.  Of course, there will be also be a prize for the winner.  The creativity and talent within the school is immense and we are sure the competition will be a hard one to judge.  The logo should encompass the RHA’s principle purpose and the closing date is September 6^th 2019.  It’s open to students across all years and entries should be emailed to  rha@ribstonhall.gloucs.sch.uk.  Good luck and get creative!

SURVEY RESULTS

Last issue we sent out a survey. While not many responded, those who did gave us an indication on their thoughts over a number of subjects. Thank you to those who took part – we will be reviewing the results at our meetings. Hopefully we can encourage greater involvement from parents & students in the future with this knowledge.

 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

The RHA has a vibrant and enthusiastic committee and they do a marvellous job.  Nonetheless, we are constantly in need of new parents to bring a wider field of ideas and of course to ensure that that the RHA continues in the future.  The more hands we have available the easier the workload and greater variety of events we can organise.  We are a friendly bunch and there is no prior experience needed – just your time, ideas and involvement.  You can just turn up to one of our meetings and we will give you a great welcome or contact us at rha@ribstonhall.gloucs.sch.uk with any questions.

 

How you can HELP

 - every time you make a purchase from one of the 1000’s retailers, a percentage goes towards our cause.  Sign up at www.easyfundraising.org.uk to register.  Click on ‘Support a good cause’ and search for Ribston Hall Association.

 100/100 Club – from as little as £1.00 a month you can enter our own ‘lottery’.  A chance to win cash through our regular draws with prizes from £10 up to £200!  Request details to join via the school or email the RHA.

The FOCUS for our current fundraising in 2019

 RIBSTON HALL HIGH SCHOOL ‘WELLBEING HUB’

The ‘Wellbeing Hub’ is a new and exciting project to integrate all the pastoral care within the school into a specifically designed, bright, relaxing and safe place for the students to visit.  We all know the pressures our children are under and this facility will provide a calm and secure environment for them.  Importantly, it will also allow privacy for ill and sick children.  The RHA has already funded £6000 towards the renovations and the work has started.  Much more is needed though to complete the vision that the school has for their pastoral care department.  Your support for the RHA and the events we arrange is vital especially in view of continuing Government budget cuts to the school funds.

Who are we?

Well, the RHA constitution says we are here to:-

i.  Develop more extended relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school

ii. Engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils attending it

iii. Provide and assist in the provision of facilities for education at the school not normally provided by the department of Education & Employment

Or, in other words, we like organising events to raise essential funds for the school so they can make purchases that benefit our children. And, of course, have FUN.

By the way, all parents of students at Ribston Hall automatically become a member of the RHA.
