Student Leadership

Students are actively encouraged in the embrace the leadership opportunities they are presented with in Year 12 and 13.

A number of roles become available in Year 13, mainly Head Girl and Deputies, House Captains, Prefects and Subject Captains. The Head Girl and her team are a vital link between staff and students, helping at school events and organising and supporting activities with main school.

Additionally, Prefects are assigned to a year group and work closely with staff and students during registration and year group activities.

The House Captains are vital leaders in the school, organising and delivering house assemblies and competitions. All Sixth Form students are provided with the opportunities to work in the school library, assisting with the smooth running of the excellent resource. Each of these roles provides the students with opportunities to enhance their competencies, ready for the world of work and higher education.

The Peer Mentor scheme couples Ribston’s strong Year 12 students with younger students to offer support and guidance on any issues young students may have. The Peer Mentors are fully trained by the School Counsellor Sue Brewster, and are coached with mentoring skills to support younger students.Of course, these are excellent opportunities to include in detail on applications for university, college and employment.
