Ribston Roar 9th September 2016

Congratulations to all those who took GCSE and Advanced Level Examinations in the Summer and to those who have gained places to start University courses in September.

Our students achieved a 100% pass rate at Advanced Level and 97% of Year 11 students achieved 5 or more A*-C Grades including English and Mathematics at GCSE. 

Welcome to all those who have joined the Ribston Hall community this year including all members of Year 7 and Year 12, we wish you every success in your time at Ribston. A special welcome to new members of staff who include:

Mr Barnard who joins the Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher; Miss Austin, Ms McKnight, Mrs Gaston and Mrs Castignetti who join the English Curriculum Area; Miss Burks & Miss Tanner who join the Performance Curriculum Area; Ms Roberts and Mr Morgan who join the Social Sciences Curriculum Area; Mrs Knight who joins the Languages and Computing Curriculum Area; and Ms Lapham who joins the Design Curriculum Area; Mrs Murphy and Ms Cole who join the Associate Staff Team as Receptionists with responsibility for  Admissions and Events & Marketing; and Mr Williams who joins the ICT Team. 

Site Matters

During the summer holidays work has begun on replacing the roofs of the Mortimer Building and replacing windows and skylights. In school various rooms have been redecorated. Work will continue on the roof until the end of October. 

Access to the school site

As you are aware we have opened the new footpath onto Stroud Road. We would like to put the following procedures in place from Monday 12th September: 


Footpath from Stroud Road

Students will be able to access the school site via the Stroud Road Gate between 7.30am and 9.30am and will be able to leave the school site via this route between 3.25pm and 4.30pm. 

Linden Road Entrance

The Linden Road Entrance will be open for pedestrians between 7.30am and 4.30pm. 

Main Entrance on Stroud Road.

Students (on foot) may only use the Main Entrance after 4.30pm 


Cyclists should dismount on entering the school site. 


Parents cannot ‘drop off’ or ‘pick up’ students on the school site at the start or end of the day (7.15am – 9am / 3.15 – 4.30pm).

Parents collecting or returning students following medical appointments may use the Main Entrance between 9.30 am and 3pm. 

Annual Awards and Speech Day

This will take place on Thursday 15th September and is by invitation only. 

Ribston Hall Association

The AGM will take place on Tuesday 4th October at 7.30pm in The Library, all parents are welcome to attend this meeting.

Save the date: on Friday 24th November between 5.30pm and 9pm we are holding a ‘Christmas Craft Fayre’ and Grand Draw. For more information and to reserve a table please contact the RHA via the School website or RHA@ribstonhall.gloucs.sch.uk 

Second Hand Uniform

There will be a lunchtime second hand uniform sale on Thursday 22nd September. 

Ski Trip to Norway – February 2017

There will be a meeting for those taking part and their parents on Wednesday 21st September at 6pm in the Parrish Building. 

One place has become available for the ski trip to Norway. If you would like your daughter to take part, please contact Mrs Chong for more information. 

Year 7 Croft Farm Visit

We please find attached the consent for the visit – please would you complete and return to your daughter’s Form Tutor next week. Thank you. 


Parentpay have had some issues at the start of term, but these should all have been resolved and thank you for your patience. 

You can use Parentpay for all payments including break and/or dinner money. If you do not have a login for Parentpay please contact Mrs Clough nc@ribstonhall.gloucs.sch.uk

Please note we are unable to lend students cash for the canteen or buses. 

Important Data

Your daughter will be bringing home a ‘Data Checking Sheet’ in the coming week. Please check the data that we hold and return the form as a matter of urgency.

For the ‘Pupil Census’ it is important that the parents include the ‘country of birth’ and details of ‘dual nationality’.

All school communication is via email. Please check that the telephone numbers and email addresses are up to date.

Newsletters, letters and reports go to all contacts with ‘Priority 1’ this can be more than one person in the family. Please check that everyone who needs to receive this information is designated ‘Priority 1’. 

Show My Homework

We are very excited to be rolling out ‘Show My Homework’ across the whole School.  This is a fantastic tool used by 1 in 3 schools across the country to provide an online homework calendar accessible to Parents and Students.  We are rolling the system out over the next two weeks and you will receive a login PIN code soon.
