Health and Social Care is an A- Level course that prepares students to work either in Health Care or Social Care. Students looking for a career in Nursing, midwifery, Social Work or Teaching will gain knowledge, experience and skills that are essential to working in this sector. They can get ahead of the competition by getting valuable experience in a work placement and completing an in-depth portfolio on how the needs of a small client group are met, the communication skills needed to work with this group and the essential care value base and care principles. They will learn about a wide range of health conditions to prepare them for their future career.

Unit HSC01: Effective Care and Communication: a portfolio of a detailed study of one client or one small client group in a care setting.
Unit HSC02:Health Conditions:
A written examination of 1 ½ hours
Students will complete a work placement in a care setting of their choice, observing and practising the skills they are learning in class. In addition they will have a range of speakers with different health conditions to learn about the care pathways and will meet a number of care practitioners to learn about their roles.
